Pricing

Magento as|an ecommerce platform in Sweden.

What does it cost to run, who carries hosting, extensions and upgrades, and what happens if you move instead? We do not host Magento — we build the alternative, and we do the arithmetic openly.

The cost picture

Count the running cost, not the licence.

45 lower total cost than Magento, counted line by line on a comparable setup
10,000 per month for HDL Commerce Light, plus SEK 50,000 setup
65,000 per month and up for Enterprise, development and licence included
0 in transaction fees — the price does not follow your revenue

What running Magento actually involves.

Six line items that need an owner every month

Licence & edition

Hosting & operations

Extensions

Upgrades

Development

Security

The line items exist whatever the platform. The difference is how many are yours and how many are included.

Magento

Many line items, different owners

Licence or edition, if you are on Adobe Commerce

Hosting, operations and monitoring as your own cost

Extensions bought and maintained one by one

Agency hours for development, patching and debugging

Upgrade projects that keep coming back

HDL Commerce

One line item, one owner

A fixed monthly price, no transaction fees

Hosting in Sweden included, monitoring too

<a href="/en/pim-product-information/">PIM</a>, <a href="/en/quote-to-order-b2b/">B2B</a> and <a href="/en/cms-page-builder/">CMS</a> included — no extensions to maintain

Continuous updates, with no upgrade project

45% lower total cost on a comparable setup

The line-by-line comparison is on HDL Commerce against Magento. How a move works is on Replatform from Magento.

The staircase that never ends.

Upgrades

01A new version ships

Patches, minors and majors arrive on upstream’s cadence. Security patches have a short window and cannot wait for the next sprint.

Upstream
02The extensions have to follow

Every extension has to support the new version. What does not gets left behind, replaced or rebuilt — and some of it is always left behind.

The agency
03Testing and regression

Checkout, pricing, promotions and integrations all get retested. The more that was custom-built, the longer each round takes.

You, with the agency
04The next version

By the time the project is finished, the next version is already out. The cost is recurring, not a one-off line in the budget.

And round again

With us, updates arrive continuously in the platform. If you want to control when they land, <a href="/en/self-hosted-platform/">self-hosting</a> delivers releases as pull requests in your own repo.

Who carries what.

On you Magento HDL Commerce Licence and edition Servers, cache and operations Monitoring and alerting Security patches Upgrading to a new version Extensions and their maintenance Development on top of the platform Content, promotions and range

The rows say who owns the line, not that the work disappears. Upgrades are a recurring project on Magento and continuous with us. If you have an agency taking hosting and patching, those rows move there — the cost remains, it just changes owner.

We are not a Magento agency. HDL Commerce is our own ecommerce platform, built in Helsingborg since 2019, with PIM, B2B and CMS in the platform and hosting in Sweden. If you are looking for someone to keep your Magento alive, we are the wrong call — if you are looking for a way to stop having to, we are the right one.

Questions about Magento.

Do you host Magento?+

No. We build and run our own platform, HDL Commerce. What we can help with on Magento is working out what it costs you today, and moving off it when you want to.

What does Magento cost to run?+

The total sits in four line items: licence or edition, hosting and operations, extensions, and agency hours. We go through them with you and set them against what the same store costs with us. On comparable setups the total lands 45% below Magento.

We are in Stockholm or Gothenburg — does it matter where you are?+

We are in Helsingborg and work with merchants across Sweden. Hosting is in Sweden. The review is remote and needs no travel, though we are happy to come in person when it is worth it.

Is Magento a bad choice?+

No. Magento is powerful and flexible, and for anyone with their own development team who wants to own the code, it works. What makes merchants switch is rarely the features — it is that the cost and the upgrades stay with them year after year.

Can we keep our agency?+

Yes. Agencies build on top of the platform through the open API, and if the relationship works there is no reason to break it. See the partner programme.

What comes across in a move from Magento?+

The catalogue with variants and attributes, customers, order history, content and URL structure with 301 redirects. The migration engine reads the installation and runs the move — 90,000 products in a single run on Light in the largest case so far.

What does leaving Magento cost?+

The migration is priced by scope. The assessment is free, and you see what migrates automatically and what needs a decision before you commit to anything. The platform price is on pricing.

What happens to our extensions?+

The review goes through every extension. Most are matched by features that are already included. Anything genuinely specific to your business is built as its own module on top of the platform.

Next step

Do the arithmetic on your Magento.

Forty-five minutes with someone who knows the platform, not a sales deck. You get the cost picture line by line and what a move means in time and money. The migration assessment is free.
