We are not just your regular e-commerce platform and we are proud of that! HDL Commerce understands (and frankly love) the complexity of online retail of today’s age. In order for e-commerce businesses to grow, and thrive to excel in todays market, a bunch of different functionalities, integrations and features needs to be supported by the platform. Not only do a great e-commerce platform need to rapidly be able to scale up or down in order to handle the rollercoaster of happenings in the market, it also needs to be supportive of third party integrations, add/develop features with ease and provide users with a seamless and fast experience. Furthermore a really great platform operator should feel like an in-house team member who understands your particular needs and that can help with- and challenge- current strategies and operations. HDL Commerce strives to offer all of that, and more. 

HDL Commerce was first born on the vision of creating a platform without the limitations and challenges that industry standars such as WooCommerce and Magento involve. We were experiencing issues with scalability for a site of our own and the idea of creating a platform without these issues was therefore primarily meant for internal use. Simultaneously we also had daily struggles with offering clients scalability for their sites that could be kept within their budget and we realised the true potential of a platform where e-commerce business could scale without breaking the bank. In short we started to catch up on even more needs were common issues involved scaling e-commerce operations, managing product variations, and navigating technology limitations. We did however soon realise that these issues only represented the top of an iceberg. It almost seemed like there were more issues with the industry standards than positive effects. 

When launching Version 2.0 we took our next big leap towards our goal of hosting 100+ customers in the next 5 years. Every component of HDL Commerce is now an individual module that can be swapped, upgraded, or modified independently. It offers the ultimate flexibility to businesses, allowing them to tailor the platform to their unique needs.

E-commerce is continuously evolving which forces us to not only keep up but also stay ahead of the demands in order to offer our customers a great solution. Today, as we stand on the threshold of significant growth, we’re more committed than ever to making this vision a reality.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. For us at HDL Commerce, this step was confronting the limitations of early versions of WooCommerce and Magento. Amid the struggle of scalability and budget constraints with our clients and managing our burgeoning e-commerce websites, we realized the need for change. A platform with mere 5-10 products was soon becoming a behemoth with over 100 products and thousands of variations. The question was clear: how do we scale without breaking the bank?

This was the genesis of our vision – a vision to create our own platform, initially intended for internal use. It was a bold step into uncharted territories, but we were fueled by the desire to bring the agility and affordability of SaaS into the often rigid world of e-commerce. We envisioned a platform that would give businesses the freedom to focus on what they do best, leaving the complexities of commerce to us.

We embraced the philosophy and spirit of the HDL group, always seeking to challenge ourselves and disrupt the status quo. With a team of just three people, we set to work, and before long, we had launched our Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

Launching the MVP was a milestone, but it was only the beginning. It was like a key turning in a lock, opening a door to a world of endless possibilities. We looked at our creation and saw not just what it was, but what it could become – HDL Commerce. What started as a solution for internal problems was now a promising product with the potential to redefine commerce for everyone.

As we stood at the beginning of this new path, we realized this journey was not just about creating a new product, but about challenging the industry standards. Our MVP was more than a platform; it was a testament to our tenacity, our innovation, and our commitment to making a difference. Today, as we look back, we feel nothing but pride for how far we’ve come, and excitement for the journey still ahead.


When we first launched our MVP, we knew we were onto something big. But as we ventured further into development, we started to see that ‘big’ was an understatement. As the platform expanded, so did our vision.

The initial success of the MVP encouraged us to widen our scope beyond just our internal needs. The challenges we faced weren’t unique to us. There were countless businesses wrestling with the same issues – scaling ecommerce operations, managing product variations, and navigating technology limitations. We realized our solution could be their solution, too.

Our team grew, not just in numbers but in diversity of thought and experience. With this new energy, we started refining the platform, driven by the feedback from our initial users, and began crafting what would become the definitive version of HDL Commerce.

We discovered that our platform was more than just a tool for managing ecommerce operations. It was a catalyst for transformation. It was an enabler for businesses to achieve their true potential without being weighed down by technology constraints.

As we looked to the future, we understood that our mission was greater than we’d first imagined. It was not just about creating a competitive product in the ecommerce market. It was about revolutionizing how businesses approach ecommerce, it was about challenging the status quo, and it was about democratizing access to advanced technology.

The road was longer and steeper than we’d thought, but with every hurdle we overcame, we grew stronger and more resolute. We were not just building a product; we were building a movement, and it was bigger than anything we’d ever imagined.


In the wake of our MVP’s launch, we began to truly comprehend the enormity of what we had built. As we started to transition customers from existing, large-scale platforms to our own, we gained invaluable insights into the shortcomings and pitfalls that had been troubling them.

We listened. We asked questions. We established a potential probability measure that we continue to employ in every feature we develop to this day. Our approach to development became data-driven, grounded in customer feedback and market needs. Our partnership with Gartner specialists helped us identify crucial areas for growth and stay attuned to industry movements.

We attended numerous events, not with the intent to sell, but to learn. Every interaction, every piece of feedback became a stepping stone on our path forward.

Our objectives were crystal clear: over the next five years, we would host over 100 e-commerce accounts, both B2C and B2B. It was an ambitious goal, and we knew the journey would be demanding. But we were prepared to put in the work, to keep learning, keep improving, and keep pushing the boundaries of what our platform could achieve.


With the launch of Version 2.0, we’re embarking on a fresh chapter in our HDL Commerce journey. A newly designed, intuitive dashboard is at the forefront, streamlining workflows and enhancing user experiences.

Underneath the hood, our platform has transformed into a modular powerhouse. Every component is now an individual module that can be swapped, upgraded, or modified independently. It offers the ultimate flexibility to businesses, allowing them to tailor the platform to their unique needs.

In addition, we’re excited to unveil comprehensive API documentation, equipping developers with the necessary resources to integrate seamlessly and build effectively on top of our platform.
