Information about cookies on HDL Commerce’s website

A cookie is a small text file sent from our web server and saved by your browser. The cookie helps the advertising system recognize the type of content and advertisements that have been visited on our website. The information stored may include data about how our visitors have browsed and used our website, the web browser our visitors are using, and the advertisements our visitors have viewed.

HDL Commerce uses statistics in aggregated form about users/traffic and traffic providers. However, such statistics never contain any form of personal information. Everything is anonymous. IP addresses are not saved in HDL Commerce’s database that stores website behavior, so the information about you can never be linked to your identity. Your IP address is saved for security purposes only in cases where you actively register on the website, such as when you want to register as a customer.

HDL Commerce’s website uses three types of cookies. The first type saves a file permanently on your computer and ensures that information that has changed since your last visit is updated. What has not changed is retrieved locally from your computer if you have visited the page before. This allows you to see information from the website more quickly.

The second type of cookies is called session cookies. While you are browsing a page, this cookie is sent between your computer and the server to link information, such as the language you have chosen. Session cookies are not stored permanently on your computer and disappear when you close your web browser.

The third type of cookies is used to gather statistics on how many people visit the website. Sometimes, HDL Commerce also uses third-party cookies from other companies to conduct market research and traffic measurements, facilitate ad management, and improve website functionality. HDL Commerce occasionally uses pixels and transparent gif files to facilitate online advertising. These files come from advertising networks HDL Commerce collaborates with and HDL Commerce’s technology provider. The files enable the advertising system to recognize cookies on your computer to understand which ads to display or which ads have been shown in the browser.

Purposes of cookies and measurement tools

  • Allow the system to recognise returning users to customise messages.
  • Calculate and report user numbers and traffic.
  • Facilitate your navigation on the website.
  • Build segments and target audiences for marketing purposes and to serve ads.
  • Reduce irrelevant ads for specific target groups.
  • Develop and improve the website by understanding how it is used.

How to prevent cookies from being stored

  • You can delete cookies from your hard drive at any time, but this will cause your personal settings to disappear.
  • You can also change the settings in your web browser to prevent cookies from being stored on your hard drive. However, this may impair the functionality of some web pages, prevent access to member pages, and make certain content and features unavailable. Previously stored cookies can also be deleted through the browser. Refer to the browser’s help pages for more information.
